Artists have long relied on linseed oil to adjust the properties of oil paints, prepare mediums, or create their own blends. The most common is linseed oil, which, when mixed with paint, enhances its optical qualities, increases gloss, and improves colour transparency. Unlike solvents, it does not alter the structure of the paint. Linseed oils also affect drying time, which may be shortened or extended depending on the processing method used. Stand Linseed Oil: Partially polymerised, honey-like viscosity oil. Mixed with oil paint, it produces a smooth mixture that dries without visible brushmarks, forming a very glossy, hard, enamel-like layer. It has low yellowing tendency and dries relatively slowly, making it ideal for glazing, enamel-like finishes, and fine detail work.
